Richard Bush's work inspires me for my work because his work is bold and my work will be bold and colourful like his. I like how the models he photographs are in unique, original clothing and they're weird in a good way. I'd like my model to be in different clothes to what the eye normally sees but i'm not sure if I have the time to find or make the clothes that I would like my models to be in. Here is some of his work and also some of his work that he has done for i-D magazine.
I love this image of Bush's because of the shine that is has to it. Its not like most images; not shiny, looks too perfected, busy.
This image is beautiful, just the way that he has positioned the model is beautiful itself. The clothes he puts his models in are gorgeous and unique, even the way he has their hair done.
Another one of the images he has done for i-D's front cover. He thinks very well about colour and the way that the image will look. Like in this image, even though the colour of her eye make up and the colour of her clothes don't match, it still works, it still goes together.
This brilliant image he did for VOGUE is spectacular. Again, he's thought about the colour and it all goes. I love the tones that he creates in his images.
The image here is plain but busy and it is engaging. The plain white background to blend with the model's socks and shawl and her pale skin tone.
Same goes with this one for yet another i-D front cover that he has done.
Although my front cover is going to be a portrait, it will be out on location but I still want it to look bold like these images above.
Practitioner 2
Luciana Ruivo's work is beautifully laid out and i'm getting my inspiration from her layouts. Most of her work is how I want one, maybe both of the double page spreads to be. Here is some of her work.
I love the way that Ruivo has laid out this double page spread. My first double page spread will be one image covering the two pages and then with a little bit of writing on the side. But my original idea was to do it mirrored to this; my image with a person/ people and have writing around them about the image and the products in the image.
I love this image of Luciana's. This is basically what I want my first page to look like, but obviously a different image and different text.
Practitioner 3
Tim Mantoani's work is really lovely. It's elegant and poise. The way the he has laid out the double page spread is fantastic. I love the tones that he uses and the way he spreads everything out in order to put them together is fantastic and i'd like to imitate this within my work. Here is one of his images that i'd like to imitate. I'd also put my writing at the side and the full image would spread across a double page, just like this example below of Mantoani's.
