Types of photography
I am going to pick 4 of these specialist photography types and then talk about them as a whole.
1. Pinhole photography
The examples that I have chosen are more of a fine art. The pinhole adds a curved effect and makes the image look surreal and different, like the photographer is aiming for it to look weird or different and surreal. For example, the 3rd image looks like it could have been taken to portray a dream or a fantasy. If they were photographed for this purpose, then the effect is perfect, it is very effective. Also, because the images are in black and white, they stand out more and, in a way, makes the images bolder.
2. Modeling
These examples are fashion photography images. The over all purpose of fashion photography is to advertise clothes/products. The four examples that i have used, the photographers have purposely placed them in a position where the colour(s) of the location are collaborating or merging with the colour(s) of the fashion products/outfit. The location in the first example is very clear linear because it mirrors the outfit on the model and her body language. The last example is very fairytale like. The dress kind of imitates the movements of the trees and the photography has purposely directed for the dress to be entwined into the tree so it blends with it and looks interesting and it flows.
3. Portraiture
The images that I have chosen for this specialist photography genre, are family/ relationship photographs and it is blatant. The images have been taken bluntly and bold but yet so soft. The photographers for the first and second image have clearly made the images bold and bright but soft and airy at the same time. You can feel the communication of love and childhood through the 2 images. The 3rd image has a nice contrast on the theme 'grand', as the image is of a newly-wed couple in a modern, fancy building. So the contrast is that it is a grand do in a grande location and the photographer has captured the essence of the event. The first, second and third image have either a blurred background so the model is focused or the background is non-existent so the model is the only thing that is focused on. These images also mirror each other, as the colours coming from the models have the same or similar colour as the background or around the model. The second image, of the little girl, has a very hazy feel to it, it has a soft browny-yellow and green background that flows with her baby blonde hair and the tone of her skin. The same goes with the first image, of the little girl, her brown and blonde hair goes nicely and fits perfectly with the tones in the tree trunks.
4. Sports
A lot of sports are done outside (in nature) and the second sports image shows that off very well and even though it is in black and white, it still stands out and looks nice and bold.
I think that the fourth image, is extremely vivid, distinct and colourful. I like that there is a tint of purple in the water, possibly created through Photoshop, maybe a tint has been put on the image or maybe even a hue/saturation manipulation. The image looks a bit too surreal so it has definitely edited somehow. Outside is the most natural place for water to be, so for swimming, it is a very good, obvious and well positioned/planned location and is a brilliant, prominent image.
As for the other images on location, they are all taken in the place that the sport should be held. The images are all in focus, as they should be, because the background (the location) is just as important as the athletes because that is telling us what is going on and where it is going on and that is makes sense that it is happening where it is.
